Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey clay mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
All measurements are taken from 1 oz of clay.
White: Take ¼ of the clay and shape into the head shape, cut a mouth into the lower part. Take 1/8 and shape into long logs for the arms. Take ¼ and shape into two long logs, then slightly shape them, by pressing onto them to make rectangle logs. Take 1/32 and shape into two flattened drops or the hands. With the flat side of the purple cutting tool, press into the round side of the hands. Take 1/16 and shape into one oval and cut in half for the shoulders. Make three small balls, slightly different sizes for the neck, four small balls for the eyes and ears, six of the same size balls for the eye balls, ear caps and the elbows. Make one slightly larger ball and a short log for the antenna. Make four very small flattened spots, one slightly larger and one flat rectangle shape to attach to the body.
Terra cotta: Take ½ and shape into a flattened triangle shape for the body. Shape 1/8 into a flattened oval for the lower part of the body and take 1/8 and shape into two balls, slightly flattened on the bottom for the feet.
Assemble: Attach the legs to the lower part of the body and press the feet to the legs. Then assemble the arms, by attaching the arms to the shoulders and hands and elbow screws to the arms. Press both arms to the side of the body and place all on top of the lower body. Press balls to the top of the body for the neck. Take the head and attach eyes, eye balls, ears, ear caps and antenna to it, then press the head onto the neck.
