Acrylic Paint- Red, Green, Yellow
Wax Paper or Foil for your work surface
Clear, fast dry glue
Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper or disposable foil. Wash hands between each color.
Pinch off enough Model Air clay to roll out a long snake about approximately 3 ¾” long and ¼ “ thick. Cut the snake into 10 small pieces about 3/8” long. Roll these into balls. One at a time, press each ball into the long veined leaf on your flexible mold. Press until the clay fills in the entire leaf shape. Gently, pull your leaf out. If there is any excess clay sticking out on the sides, trim it off with your craft knife.
Repeat the above process to make 5 smaller veined leaves.
Lastly, pinch of enough clay to make 5 tiny balls for the center.
Set these on your work surface to dry. Follow the directions on the packaging for drying time.
Once your pieces are completely dry, assemble the poinsettia.
Arrange 5 of the larger leaves into a circle shape. Use clear, fast drying glue on the sides of each leaf to adhere the pieces together.
Glue the remaining 5 large leaves in between the leaves you have already glued together. Set this aside to dry.
Arrange the 5 smaller leaves into a circle shape. Use clear, fast drying glue on the sides of each leaf to adhere the pieces together. Place a small amount of glue in the center and adhere the 5 tiny balls in the middle. Allow to dry.
Start painting the large outer leaves green. Paint the inner large leaves and the smaller leaves red. Paint the tiny balls in the center yellow. Set this aside to dry.
Once dry, glue the small leaves on top of the large leaves. Position the smaller leaves so they are lined up with the outer circle of larger leaves. Allow this to completely dry.
Once the poinsettia is dry, apply a light coat of Sculpey gloss onto the red leaves only. While the gloss is still wet sprinkle a light coating of Premo! red glitter on top. Tap off excess.
Allow to dry and then coat the entire piece with Sculpey gloss.
