January 2015 preview: Moroccan colors

January 2015 preview: Moroccan colors

I seem to careen along a creative highway zooming from one challenge to the next, one design to the next, one technique to the next and I don’t often look back. Like that project or post? Too bad, because I’m already zooming off to new ideas and hopefully, new frontiers. Call for Proposals to teach classes are usually several months ahead of time and I know that by the time the class rolls around, I will, most likely, be onto something(s) entirely different. “But wait!  Let me show you this right off my desk…” Before I start, I just want to thank the artist who suggested Moroccan colors for January.  I have had an absolute blast with this and here is a sneak peak:

I know I should probably make this Top 12- one for each month, but that just seemed to obvious and I wanted to challenge myself. So in order of my Imperial Favor…

#1 from December mixes. A deep, rich teal

#1 from December mixes. A deep, rich teal

#1 From Decemberhttps://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-down-the-rabbit-hole-again/ The clever person who asked for blue and green mixes sent me on another journey for the illusive TEAL and I had quite the blast searching under blue and green rocks to find it.  This mix was my favorite because of the glow that the Premo! Accents Peacock gives the color, especially when it’s textured.

#2 A luscious melon color

#2 From Mayhttps://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-a-2fer/    I don’t know if I want to stick an umbrella in it and drink it or actually use it as a clay color.  I love it and it makes me happy and reminds me of warm, sunny days.

#3 From March: http://synssculpeyblog.wordpress.com/2014/03/18/new-color-tuesday-the-irish-greens/  I love this bright green, it’s obnoxious, bold and not sparkly – sounds like me!

#5 I love my metallic neutrals too!

#4 From December:  https://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-green-goes-metallic/  This probably should be higher up, but I’m such a sucker for bright colors, I just can’t bump one of the brights before it.  This 3 way mix is gorgeous, especially when textured.

#5 From October: https://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-with-2-olives-please/ I love my neutrals too!  Especially if they are metallic…

#6 Even I'm surprised I picked a purple color!

#6 From Septemberhttps://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-the-purples/  Yes, even I’m surprised I picked a purple!

#7 From June A beautiful mix of metallic and solid color

#7 From June: https://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-souffle-goes-metal/ I love the way the Premo! Accent Metallics mix through the Souffle colors.  They glow like tiny stars.

#8 From July: https://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday/ A bold coralish (coral type?) color.  Unusual, so I like it!

#9 From April: I don’t even know if this actually made it onto a NCT post!  It’s Souffle Mai Tai and Seaglass 1:1 to create the coolest looking neutral grey!

#10 All the Mai Tai mix colors from July

#10 From July: https://www.sculpey.com/create/new-color-tuesday-lets-do-mai-tais/  I know that it’s technically cheating to have so many colors in one, but hey, it’s my list, right?

Well, that’s my Top Ten.  I’m sure that if I looked again, I would probably pick a lot of different colors because there were so many great combinations, and surprise combinations, created this year.  Now I can’t believe that 2015 is just 1 day away.  That means that the Polymer Clay Adventure will be starting in January 1 and I’m the first teacher up! If you have’t joined the 750 other artists from around the world, just click on the Polymer Clay Adventure link!
