A good friend of mine hosts a Christmas party for her husband’s office. He is the head of a government research facility here where I live. For the past 4 years, I have made a cane design to slice into ornaments for the party favors she gives the employees. Every year, the design includes the lab’s logo, a shaded blue and red “A,” and the date. Last year the logo was framed with candy canes, holly the year before. I usually make the logo cane large enough to last through several years. This year, she requested the design to include poinsettias. So in addition to the chunk of the logo cane which was saved from last year, I developed a poinsettia and the cane for 2017.
