Jan016-3bI'm always ready to mix an orange color (although this is more of a wineish color) and I was equally fascinated with how different Ecru mixes in color combinations compared to White.  The colors will obviously be warmer, but I was surprised with how much darker they appear as well!  White really has a punch that makes an immediate effect on a color tone, which Ecru is a little more subtle.

I've been enjoying my new hatband I created with the scraps from this month's mix!  Both the pendant and the hatband get a lot of comments.  My son was clever enough to give me a gift MSfinalsmcertificate to a local hat shop where I immediately grabbed one of my favorite Brixton brand hats! The actual band is leather that I stain purposely to look a little like clay.  The oval shapes are baked on a curved surface so that they will fit more solidly on the curve of the hat band. The pendant is also baked on a curve.meisha mash1  I use either a small flood light or a 5 inch metal bowl from Ikea to bake on.  Read how to do this technique at: https://www.sculpey.com/wp/new-color-tuesday-venetian-palette-part-i/

Oh!  I'm am so excited!  My cousin who teaches watercolor painting had ask to borrow some of my sunset photos to have her class recreate in watercolor.  The results were just amazingly beautiful (you can see them on my Facebook page).  So I asked her if I could borrow one of her watercolor images of flowers to pull colors from for the February mixes.  She sent me some beautiful images to work with!

I will be building more hatbands for my tutorial in the The Polymer Clay Adventure 2016 has launched, but it’s never too late to join!  Several hundred artists from all over the world have already joined. If you need time to pay your entrance fee, you’ve got it… 3 payment buttons are now available on all the info pages.   If you wanted to buy any of the Adventures as a holiday gift for someone special (or send a hint to someone!), they have got that too!
