Award winning figurative artist, Maria Saracino, has been sculpting in polymer clay for over 22 years. Her favorite clays are Super Sculpey and Living Doll. She’s been featured in magazines and publications in the US and Canada and has won numerous awards including a DOTY Award. Her figurative sculptures have been featured in 3 museum exhibits and are currently available through six galleries.
Maria’s sculptures are about triggering a memory – a feeling – they are familiar. Her influences include Joe Fafard and Ron Mueck, but her biggest influence is Norman Rockwell. “Through sculpture I often channel his illustrative style of capturing candid moments in time.”
A full-time artist, Maria not only works with galleries, but also accepts several portrait commissions a year. She also teaches in her studio workshop, public and private schools and various organizations including being part of the faculty of two online schools.
