Karolina Soderberg

Karolina Soderberg

I´m a mother of two small children and an almost stay at home mom. I have a wonderful husband that supports me. I live in the north of Sweden where winters bring a lot of snow, cold temperatures, down to – 30 c, and only a few hours of daylight. Summers it is light around the clock. I was born and raised in the south of Sweden in Gothenburg a city by the ocean.

My beginning trade was cabinetry. I still have a few furniture pieces that I made but it has been a long time since I worked with wood.

Crafting has always been part of my life and I’ve been enjoying polymer clay off and on for over 20 years, I´m trying to open people’s eyes in Sweden to great possibilities of polymer clay. I love polymer clay because when I get “bored” I can change the technique but I don´t have to change the medium.

I always keep my eyes open for inspiration around me and even as a first grader I was late to school every single day because i always seemed to find something on the way that caught my attention like a lizard or a flower. Drove my mom crazy as the teacher was not happy, my mom sent me earlier and earlier to school but it did not help, inspiration is everywhere, what can I say. My daughter has caught the creativity bug so I think I will walk her to school when the time comes.

Plant inspiration.

One obvious source of inspiration is all the beautiful plants around us. Some have great textures, others stunning colours. Somewhere I read that green goes with every colour because natures colours are almost always mixed with green, maybe that is true. Again your mobile phone with a camera is your best friend. Flowers are ofcourse

Attacking and sneaking

I have no problems attacking people I know with my phone. Taking photos that is, not whacking them on the head with it. But with strangers it is more difficult so sneaking is better or making your partner do it for you. Why on earth would I want to take photos of strangers? Only one
