Kids can create these simple bowls that can be used for sorting small items by colors. Making the bowls and painting them is a project in and of itself that is great for strengthening fine motor skills. When kids participate in making an activity, they have a sense of ownership in doing it once done too. Sorting items can also be used for creating color patterns and sequencing skills.

Project Instructions
- Getting Started:
Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.
- Baking (also called Curing):
Cut the block of clay into eight equal parts – you will be using one piece for each bowl for a total of 8 bowls.
Roll one part into a soft ball using hands.
Roll the ball out into a circle about 5 inches in diameter. It does not have to be a perfect shape.
Bend up the edges, pinching as moving around, to create a bowl. Repeat Steps 2-5 for each bowl being made.
Bake following the instructions in the packaging.
Once baked and completely cooled, paint bowls solid colors.
Add a coat of Sculpey Gloss Glaze and let dry.
Use the bowls to sort small objects into colors.
