To get deep, even, embossed stamping on clay, put the sheet of clay on a piece of unlined paper and set the paper on a smooth firm floor. Spray the stamp with water and place it on to the sheet of clay. Now step on the stamp. If it's a big stamp, step on it from all four sides. Pick up the paper, remove the stamp and peel the paper away from the back of the clay.

Old credit cards (or those new store "club cards") make great clay tools to add straight lines, cut tube beads, indent the sides of short canes, etc.

When wet sanding baked polymer clay, add a little dish detergent to the water. Choose a scent you really like. It will make the water more slippery to ease your sanding.

Look at different laces and notions in your sewing box. They make great texture material for dresses on figures. Also the plastic webbing that comes on some vegetables makes a great texture for cuffs on mittens and stocking hats.

For my main work surface, I layer a quilters' grid underneath a piece of glass large enough to cover the entire grid. This makes it super easy when exact measurements are needed for a project.

Dirty pasta machine? No time to clean it? Need to run white or some other light color through it? Use Saran Wrap to protect the clay it works.

If you don't have a pasta machine and you want your clay to be an even thickness, try this: Place popsicle sticks or rulers parallel to each other on the work surface. Roll the clay with a rolling pin or acrylic roller between the sticks and the clay will be uniformly level to the height of the sticks.

When adding holes to unbaked beads cradle the bead in the palm of your hand. This holds the bead steady without getting your finger prints on the bead.
