Sculpey III Barnyard Tic Tac Toe
Amy Koranek

This cute game will add excitement to any road trip or rainy day at home.

Getting Started

Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.  Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly.  Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness.  For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use.  Baking should be completed by an adult.

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay.

Game Board

Step 1

Spread a thin layer of white craft glue on the lid of the empty Altoids tin box. Allow to dry completely. Roll out 1/8" thick sheet of Red clay. Cut out a square approximately 2-1/4" X 2-1/4". Place the red square in the center of the box lid. Roll out a 1/8" sheet of White clay. Cover the ends of the box lid with the white clay on both sides of the red area. Trim away excess clay.

Step 2

If you have a wood grain rubber stamp or texture sheet you can use it to texture the clay. Lightly spray the stamp or texture sheet with water so it won't stick to the clay. Press the texture into the clay. Trim away any excess clay that may have pressed out over the sides of the lid. If you don't have a stamp or texture sheet, you can imitate a wood grain finish in the clay by scoring with the needle tool.

Step 3

Roll out a 1/16" thick sheet of White clay. Cut out 4 thin strips to divide the red area into 9 equal sections about 3/8" X 3/8". Use the toothpick to indent little nail holes in the strips.

Pigs

Place the medium pancake at the top of the legs to form the head, tilt slightly.

Place the small pancake in the lower center of the head.

Press the ears on top of the head.

Press the eyes in, right above the snout.

Use the needle tool to poke two holes into the snout.
