This brightly colored ornament is a great way to add a little fun to this holiday season. Perfect to add a color to your Christmas or to give as a gift everyone will enjoy!
Create the base of the ornament using Ultralight. After conditioning your clay you will need to create 2 shapes. The first is a long pear shape, it should measure about 4-4.5” long and have about a 6.5” circumference at the widest part. The second shape is a cone shape, similar to a Hersey kiss. This should measure about 1.75” long and have about a 4” circumference at the widest part.
**To make the pieces attach more easily to each other, create a flat spot on the bottom of the pear and the bottom of the cone shape.
Bake the Ultralight base pieces according to the clay package directions. They should not be attached to each other at this point.
Roll out 3/4 of the package of premo! Candy Pink on the widest setting on the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine; repeat several times until the clay is smooth and pliant. Set the machine to the number 3 and roll the clay back through to create a thin sheet of clay. Make sure the sheet is large enough to cover the pear shape base of Ultralight. Wrap the clay around the base while smoothing and bringing excess clay to both the top and bottom. Cut off excess and smooth seams.
Roll out ¼ of the packaging of premo! Bright Green Pearl on the widest setting on the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine; repeat several times until the clay is smooth and pliant. Set the machine to the number 3 and roll the clay back through to create a thin sheet of clay. Cut a stripe ¾” wide and long enough to fit around the widest part of the ornament. Attach and smooth seams.
Do the same with ½ of the package of premo! Purple Pearl. With the thin sheet of clay you will want to cut a stripe ½” wide and long enough to fit around the narrowest part of the ornament. You will also want to create a sheet to cover the cone that will attach to the bottom of the ornament (set this sheet aside). Attach the stripe to the pear shape and smooth seams.
With the remainder of the Purple Pearl, you will want to condition and create a sheet. On to that sheet you will want to sprinkle glitter and use your finger to spread it around. Once the sheet is glittered to your liking, you will want to cut out 10 thin strips to decorate the Bright Green Pearl stripe, the Purple Pearl stripe and the cone piece for the bottom of the ornament.
Next you will want to cut out a piece of the glitter clay to use as the cap of the ornament. Apply to the top and smooth. You can create a hanger from thin gauge wire and place it in to the top of the clay.
Finally, you will want to create 6 flat round pancakes to apply to the Bright Green Pearl stripe.
Wrap cone shape in the Purple pearl sheet you previously set aside. Smooth out any seams. Decorate the shape with the stripes of glittery clay you made.
When both the pear shape and the cone are finished being covered and decorated, attach the two pieces together. Make sure you press firmly to ensure a strong bond. There is no use for glue as the clay to clay bond will act like the adhesive.
Bake according to the instructions on the premo! packaging.
