Make this easy picnic box set; it’s perfect for a 4th of July picnic.
Getting Started
Preheat oven to 275 °F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. Condition all clay by kneading until it’s soft and smooth or running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Step 1 Box
Spray paint inside and outside of box, let dry
Step 2 Box
Using 2 ½ blocks of Sunset, Vanilla crème and Stonewash, extrude lengths of clay using the Sculpey Clay Extruder with the ½ circle disk for the stripes.
Step 3 Box
Using the remaining ½ blocks of clay, flatten with Clay Conditioning Machine use the ¾” star cutter to cut out stars.
Step 4 Box
Apply the extruded strips & stars using Translucent Liquid Sculpey.
Step 5 Box
Miter edges of the strips to form the sharp corners on the top of the box.
Step 6 Box
Bake entire box at 275 °F for 20 minutes, let cool.
Step 7 Box
Use the inside of the box to hold napkins, paper plates, and insert two glasses to hold your silverware.
Step 8 Box
Turn the top of the box over and use as a holding station for your condiments
Step 1 Picnic Accessories
Spray paint inside and outside of terra cotta pots, let dry
Step 2 Picnic Accessories
Using 2 blocks of Sunset, Vanilla Crème and Stonewash, extrude lengths of clay using the Sculpey Clay Extruder with the ½ circle disk for the stripes.
Step 3 Picnic Accessories
Using ½ block of each color, flatten with Clay Conditioning Machine use the ¾” & 1 ½” star to cut pieces of your choice.
Step 4 Picnic Accessories
Apply 1/8 block of clay per item to the handle of each serving piece as a base coat.
Step 5 Picnic Accessories
Apply 1/8 block to the upper stem of each skewer covering approximately half of the stem.
Step 6 Picnic Accessories
Apply the extruded stripes & stars using Translucent Liquid Sculpey.
Step 7 Picnic Accessories
Bake all the pieces at 275 °F for 20 minutes, let cool.
Step 8 Picnic Accessories
Use skewers as plant pokes.
Step 9 Picnic Accessories
Plant festive flowers in pots, or use to hold utensils.
Step 10 Picnic Accessories
The serving pieces will add flare to your table.
Sculpey is a craft product and should not come in contact with food. Sculpey embellished items must be hand washed.
