Make this cute little bug to help you get in a patriotic mood.
Getting Started
Preheat oven to 275 °F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. Condition all clay by kneading until it’s soft and smooth or running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Step 1
Bug's body is egg shaped, about 1½” high.
Step 2
Shoes are slightly flattened egg shapes. Press body on shoes and make an indentation between the shoes to imply legs.
Step 3
Eyes are 2 flattened tear drop shapes.
Step 4
Nose is oval shaped.
Step 5
Arms are tapered logs bent into an “L” shape. Attach to the body and press the “hands” around the button.
Step 6
Antennas are coiled wire inserted into the top of the bugs head, Dab a small amount of glue to the ends of the antennas and press small ball ends of clay.
Step 7
Bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Step 8
Once cooled, dot iris with fabric paint.
