Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130°C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275°F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Roll 1/3 package of Premo! Accent Bronze through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine on #1 (widest setting). Slice off another 1/3 of the block and roll it through on the same setting. Combine the two pieces and roll through 2-3 times. Set aside and repeat with the other colors.
Cut an equilateral triangle from the bronze clay that is about 3-1/2 inches high and about 1 ¾ at the bottom.
Place this triangle on top of the Premo! Accent Purple Pearl sheet of clay and cut the purple sheet to the same size, using the Bronze triangle as a pattern. Repeat this with the Gold (cut two triangles of Bronze and Gold) and the Orange clay sheets. Set aside.
Assemble the triangles, Gold, Purple, and Bronze (left to right). Cut small triangles of Gold and Bronze to fit on the side to even out the rectangle. Repeat with the Gold/Orange/Bronze set.
Cut the Premo! Accent 18k Gold sheet in half and roll it back through the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine, set on #6 to create a very thin sheet of clay. Trim the 18k Gold to the size of this new rectangle. (this will help to tone down the colors a little bit and, more importantly, help to hold the triangles in place when you move to the next step!) Repeat with the Gold/Orange/Bronze rectangle.
Fold the rectangle over top of the triangles to the bottom of the triangles with the 18k Gold sheet on the outside. Place the folded sheet into the Sculpey Clay Conditioning Machine (set on #1 again) with the fold side down. Continue to fold and roll in the same fashion until the clay shows a smooth transition of colors. Repeat with the Gold/Orange/Bronze set.
Spray the texture block lightly with water and lightly stamp both sheets. Stack the two blends together so that the Orange and Purple areas match.
Use the flexible Super Slice Blade to cut a curve across both layers of clay. (NOTE: I decided that I wanted a lot of Bronze).
Cut the curved piece into the pieces for the necklace. (I started with the short end and cut each piece gradually thinner as they got longer).
Roll out the remaining Premo! Accent Gold clay on the #1 setting and DEEPLY emboss your texture. (Most of you know I do this by putting the sheet of clay on a sheet of paper with the stamp in place on the concrete floor and then I step on the stamp!) Repeat this step until you have a double layer of the textured clay that you can cut out your three ovals or “footballs”.
Lay out your pieces and admire! Note, when you flip the pieces over, you have another color necklace!
Carefully drill your pieces by drilling the first piece about ¼ inch down from the top. Line this up with the next piece and match the position of the hole. Repeat for all the pieces. Also, drill the three Gold pieces about ¼ inch from the top. Place on a sheet of clean paper and bake in a pre-heated oven according to the clay package directions.
Once the pieces have cooled, string your necklace and you will have TWO new necklaces! DONE!
