Preheat oven to 275 °F. Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. Condition all clay by kneading until it’s soft and smooth or running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Mix the Translucent Liquid Sculpey with the white oil paint to create an opaque mixture. Squeeze opaque Liquid Sculpey onto baking sheet or tile in the shape of a snowman (use the tile or baking sheet that you intend on baking the snowman on. You will not be able to move it, until after baking.

Roll two 1/8 balls of Black clay for charcoal eyes, 5 or 6 (depends on how much room you have in the mouth area) – 1/16 Black balls for the mouth.

Roll a 3/16 ball of Orange clay into a ball. Using the index finger to shape the ball into a carrot by rolling one side of the ball into a point. Use the Needle Tool to impress lines in the carrot.

Assemble as shown by carefully placing the little balls of clay onto the Liquid Sculpey, it the balls don’t fall exactly where you want them, they can be moved a little but using the Needle Tool, being careful not to push them down into the Liquid Sculpey.

To give your snowman a scarf, cut a 2 - 1/2 inch long and ¼ inch wide strip of Cadmium Red Hue clay, rolled down to #4 (with #1 being the thickest setting) on the Clay Conditioning Machine. Fold in half; use the Needle Tool to scratch the ends of the scarf for fringe. Drape onto melted snowman, as shown.

Roll a ½ inch ball of Raw Sienna. Separate into two pieces, the pieces do not have to be equal. Re-roll into balls, then into logs, fold, to form a “V” shape, the “V” shape does not have to be symmetrical, uneven is good! Pinch the bottom of the “V” as shown to form “arms”. Place on Liquid Sculpey body, beneath mouth.

This is a great project to use up those tiny bits and pieces of clay that you just don’t know what to do with. Using very small bits of clay, make buttons. Use the Needle Tool to put two buttonholes in each button or use the back of a screw to give the button a pattern. Place on the snowman’s body.

Roll a ½ inch ball of Green Pearl into a teardrop. Flatten with fingers to form a 1- ½ inch long triangle, should be about 1 inch at the bottom of the triangle.

Wrap bottom with White clay. Add a white ball to the top. Fold downward so that the ball on top of the hat is resting near the white band of the hat. Use the Needle Tool to poke a hole through the top of the hat. A hole can also be drilled through the hat after baking. Place above snowman’s eyes.

Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool, pry him up off of baking sheet and insert string for hanging.
