Kids will enjoy making this “friendly” frog figure.
Getting Started
Condition clay by kneading in your hands until warm and pliable.
Making the Light Green
To make a lighter green take a ½” ball of the white and a ½” ball of the green. Mix the two balls together to make the light green you will use for the frog’s spots.
Body
Roll a 1 ¼” ball of darker green clay into a pear shape.
Legs
Roll two ¾” balls of the darker green to about 2” long. Bend and pinch the ends together. Press to the sides of the body.
Feet
Shape two ½” balls of darker green into plump triangle shapes for the back feet and two ¼” balls of darker green into smaller plump triangles for the front feet. Press to the base of the body.
Eyes and Mouth
Press two ¼” balls of White to top of body. Add two tiny Black pupils. Roll a ¼” ball of darker green to about ½” long. Flatten with your fingers and press to the back and top of eyes for the eyelids. With a toothpick draw a smile. For the lower lip, roll a 1/8” ball of the darker green to about ¼” long and press to the bottom of the smile.
Spots
Roll a few 1/8” balls of the light green mixture you made at the beginning and press in different places on the body of your frog.
