This gorgeous faux pendant looks just like the real thing!
Step 1
Roll out 3/4 of the Turquoise on the #1 setting on the Clay Conditioning Machine.
Step 2
Put on the gloves and dot some of the black ink onto the sheet of clay. Use a cotton ball to immediately spread the ink evenly over the entire surface of the clay. Set aside to dry.
Step 3
While the ink is drying, mix the remaining Turquoise clay with ½ of the Grey Granite. (Mix more Grey Granite in if you like!). Use the Clay Conditioning Machine to help you mix the colors quickly and thoroughly. Set aside.
Step 4
Roll ½ of the Rhino Grey through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #1 setting and then set the machine on #3 and roll it through again to get a thinner sheet of clay. Repeat this with the Peacock.
Step 5
Assemble all 4 of your colors (only if the black ink is already dry!) and begin to cut matchstick lengths off the sheet of clay with ink on it. Cut at least 12 matchsticks of this clay. Then cut about 10 matchsticks of the Turquoise/Grey Granite mix and finish with about 6 each of the Rhino Grey and Peacock. (You can cut more or less of any of these colors to make your own custom mix!)
Step 6
While still wearing your gloves, mix the clay matchsticks up and then press them into a rough cylinder in your hand. Roll it a couple of times in your hands just to get the pieces to stick together. Then grasp each end of the cylinder and twist in opposite directions to twist the colors together.
Step 7
Roll the cylinder through the Clay Conditioning Machine, set on #1 again, fold the clay in half and roll through again. You should have a beautiful blend of faux turquoise now! You can also continue to fold and roll the clay if you don't like the first blends.
Step 8
Select which part of your blend you wish to show in the pendant and press it gently into place.
Step 9
Trim the excess clay away from the pendant so that the clay just fills the pendant area and slightly overlaps on the back.
Step 10
Roll the Blue Granite out to a diameter that fits your end caps if you are using them. Cut two pieces about 1 inch in length. Roll some of the remaining faux turquoise mix out to the same diameter and trim to match the Blue Granite pieces. Trim the head pins to about ½ inch and thread on the end cap and push into the top of each clay cylinder.
Step 11
Bake the pendant and the 3 cylinders following the directions on your clay package and allow the pieces to cool before assembling the necklace. You may want to remove the head pin assembly from the cylinders and add a drop of glue and reassemble them.
Step 12
Cut 3 different short lengths of chain to attach the cylinders at the bottom. Attach a cylinder to each length of chain, using a jump ring. Attach all the chains to the bottom of the pendant using a jump ring. Attach the remaining chain to the top of the pendant.
