Getting Started

Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.  Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly.  Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness.  For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use.  Baking should be completed by an adult.

Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Step 1

Mix 1/2 package of Red and 1/2 package of White together to make Light Pink clay. Mix 1/2 package of Purple and 1/2 package of White together to make Light Purple clay.

Step 2

Using the Acrylic Roller, roll out the Light Pink Clay into a sheet. Gently place the frame on top of Pink sheet of clay.  Using the knife tool, gently cut around the outside edge and inside window, leaving a little bit of excess clay. Gently push the excess clay around to the backside of the frame.

Step 3

Roll tiny balls (approx. 3/16” dia.) in White, Yellow, Blue, Purple and Light Purple and gently press flat onto frame to create polka dots.

Step 4

Using the Acrylic Roller, roll out a sheet of Purple clay.  Using the knife tool, cut out a rectangle (1-1/2” W x 9/16” H).

Step 5

Using the Acrylic Roller, roll out a sheet of Light Purple clay.  Using the knife tool cut out a rectangle (1-1/4” W x 3/8” H).  Place the Light Purple rectangle on top of the purple rectangle.  Make one tiny ball for each color (Pink, Light Pink, Yellow and Blue). Press balls flat to each corner of the Light Purple rectangle and place at the top of the frame.

Step 6

Roll three 5/8” Tan tapered cylinders, press smaller end gently to work surface to create bottom of cupcake. Roll two thin White and one Light Pink snakes (approx. 4.25” L). Starting with one end of the snake, begin to roll snakes into the frosting shape, layering as you go up. Press each frosting to top of cupcake bottom.

Step 7

Make skinny snakes from the Purple, Light Purple, Light Pink, Yellow and Blue clay. Cut tiny sprinkles from various colors and gently place on frosting. Roll three 1/4” red balls into tear drops, with your fingernail gently divide the fatter end of the tear drops to create hearts, press to top of each cupcake.

Add all 3 cupcakes to the frame

Step 9
