Bring on the BLING with Sculpey products. These easy little shoe clips can bring fun to a pair of dressy heels to tennis shoes.
Roll out a small sheet of Gold clay on the #1 setting of the Clay Conditioning Machine several times to condition it. Set the Clay Conditioning Machine at #4 and roll the Gold through to make a thinner sheet of clay. Trim this sheet to a rectangle that is just a little taller than your cutter. Set aside.
Roll out a small sheet of Black clay on the #1 setting of the Clay Conditioning Machine several times to condition it. Set the Clay Conditioning Machine at #5 and roll the Black clay through to make a thinner sheet of clay. Set this small sheet on your Sculpey work surface and press lightly to adhere the clay to the work surface. Use the Medium-sized Etch and Pearl tool to quickly stamp out several dots.
Once you have stamped at least 30 circles, just pull up the remaining clay and the dots will stay on the work surface.
Transfer these dots to the Gold sheet of clay in a random pattern. Use the edge of the Super Slicer to slide under the edge of each dot to transfer it or use your fingernail.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 using the Burnt Umber clay and the SMALL Etch and Pearl Tool. Use the edge of the Super Slicer blade or your thumbnail to catch the edge of each dot and transfer it to the sheet of Gold clay. These brown dots are going to be placed on TOP of each black dot. NOTE: Don't place them in the exact center of each black dot, but randomly put them on the dots.
Once all the dots are in place, put the sheet of gold clay face down on a sheet of paper and press lightly to make sure that the dots are all adhered to the clay surface.
Run the sheet of Gold clay back through the Clay Conditioning Machine on the #4 setting. This will press the dots into the Gold clay and smear the shape slightly to resemble animal print.
Position your cutter to take the best advantage of the pattern and cut out at least 2 circles.
Place the completed circle into the center of the metal tablespoon.
Roll a pea-sized ball of black and flatten it slightly between your fingers and place in the center of the patterned sheet of clay. If you are using a bakeable crystal, you can press it into place on the black before baking.
Roll the remaining Gold clay through the Clay Conditioning Machine on #4 and stamp out 2 plain Gold circles. If you don't have enough Gold clay left, you can use the Burnt Umber or Black clays. Bake the clay according to the clay package directions for about 20 minutes.
While the clay is baking, create the lace medallions to go between the two pieces of clay. Cut a length of lace about 8 inches long and use a long stitch up one side of the lace. Once you have stitched up the length of lace, pull on the thread to gather the lace and turn it into a circle. Tack the two ends together and trim off the thread.
When the clay has cooled, remove the clay from the metal tablespoon and assemble the pieces by gluing the lace between the flat piece of plain clay and the curved decorated piece of clay.
Once this glue is set, turn the piece over and glue the earring back at the top of the flat circle of clay. NOTE: You may want to line up your animal print patterns on both so that the circles are smeared in the same direction!
Attach the new clips to your favorite pair of shoes!
