Does Sculpey look interesting, but you tell yourself you just don't have time?

Well, syndee holt will prove you wrong.  She has worked as an independent polymer clay artist, photographer, and author for over 18 years while maintaining  a full time career (21 years at UC San Diego) and raising her two sons herself, even caring for her terminally ill father for several years. She wrote her book, Polymer Clay for the First Time, with 4 little boys playing Nintendo behind her and in between laundry and cooking duties.  Her bibliography now lists over 100 polymer clay articles in magazines published throughout the world as well as over 35 television appearances. Still don't think you have time for crafts?

Amy Koranek

My name is Amy Koranek and I was brought up in a rural Illinois community called Olney.

My love of combining colors, intricate design, and playful patterns has only grown since my childhood.  I experimented my way through almost every art form I could get my hands on. But it wasn't until my husband, Tom, and I were on our honeymoon that I stumbled upon the medium that would define my art, and has for the past 20 plus years - polymer clay. In working with polymer clay I find that all my creative needs are met - it's tactile, colorful, perfect for intricate designs, and pattern-making, textures easily, and is instantly gratifying because of its quick curing time.

I grew up in a small town in North Germany  and currently living north-west of Boston with my wonderful husband and our three great teenage kids. I discovered Polymer clay for the first time, while living in Germany, in 1987. I was always interested in crafts and picked up some books and clay and absolutely fell in love with it. I now work mostly with Premo and Sculpey.

I love to make figures, but also venture into making jewelry using techniques such as caning, mokume gane, and mica shifting. Working with polymer clay is rewarding and fun and the ideas and the things to be done with the clay are limitless and the cost to start this craft is very low.

I was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and have lived in the Chicago suburbs since high school. I graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a degree in advertising, and I've been a copywriter or editor for my entire career. I currently work at The Pampered Chef corporate headquarters in the marketing department.
Patti Kimle
Patti Kimle

Patricia Kimle has always been involved in art, from childhood on.  Her early interests focused on apparel design and later, jewelry.  Patricia holds a Ph.D. in Textiles and Clothing and taught apparel design at the college level for seven years.

She has been exploring polymer clay for nearly 20 years.  About 5 years ago, she added metal clay to the mixture to create mixed media jewelry.   Patricia sells her jewelry to galleries and gift shops across the country.  She has two lines; a fashion line which combines silver and polymer with a strong nature theme, and an inspirational line which incorporates scripture verses and prayers in the silver.  She uses all original drawings, carved designs, and molds of foliage collected in her own...

Phoebe Doehring
Phoebe Doehring

Hello my name is Phoebe Doehring.  I am so excited to be part of the Sculpey Design Squad!

I currently live in Brunswick, Maine with my husband Bill and our two boys. Besides being a polymer clay artist I also work part time as an assistant pre-school teacher.

I started to create with polymer clay eight years ago.  I am inspired by everything, especially nature. I have little pieces of paper and notebooks filled with idea sketches. Other artists inspire me as well, even if their medium is different.

The one piece of advice that I would give to someone wanting to try clay for the first time is just go for it and don’t be afraid to mess up!
