Adorable and monster usually don't go in the same sentence, but this Kooky Monster fits the bill. His eyes and teeth glow in the dark making him even cuter!
GETTING STARTED
Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4” (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by kneading in your hands until it is smooth and soft.

Project Instructions
For the body create a 1” ball. For the arms and legs create four ½” balls.
For the body - Flatten ball slightly. Pinch the top right and left corners and pull clay out and shape as soon in the picture. Push the large Style & Detail tool into the clay to form the month. Also press 2 small socket areas for the eyes with the medium Style & Detail tool.For the arms and legs - Press and roll the balls into cylinders. Set body, arms and legs aside.
To create the eyes mix one part Sculpey Glow In The Dark to one part premo! Translucent. Roll two ¼” balls. Press a glass seed bead into the center of the eye. HINT - I put the seed bead on the end of a t-pin to help hold the bead. If you don’t have seed beads you can roll tiny pieces of black clay for the eyes. Make 3 tiny balls and shaped into triangles for the teeth. Set aside.
To create the antenna, coil the wire around a toothpick. Keep coiling until you have about 1” coiled. Leave about a ½” uncoiled wire at the bottom to press into the clay character and leave about ¼” at the top and bend into a circle with craft pliers. Set aside.
Firmly press the arms and legs to the body as shown in the picture. Press the eyes into their sockets. Add the teeth to the month opening. Then insert the coiled wired into the top of his head. HINT -Once he is all together I make sure he will stand on his own. If not just press him into your work surface and wiggle him around to balance him out.
I love to texturize some of my pieces to give them a different look. Just take an old tooth brush and press into the character. This will make him look like he has hair, and give his eyes a unique look. Bake as directed above.
