Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper or disposable foil. Wash hands after use.
Oven Bake Clay
Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.
Take Original Sculpey® and make an oval shaped loaf. This becomes the mold to drape your air dry clay over to create the bowl shape so make sure you shape it to the size you want your bowl to be. Bake the bowl mold on an oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275 °F for 15 minutes per 1/4 in thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. Do not use the microwave oven. Do not exceed the above temperature or recommended baking time. Wash hands after use. Let mold cool before using with air dry clay.
Using the acrylic roller, roll out a sheet of air dry clay 1/8 inch thick. Dust the bowl mold with cornstarch and wrap air dry clay sheet over the top of the bowl mold. Using the rigid blade cut off any excess air dry clay. Use sandpaper to press texture into the clay. Gently lift air dry clay off of the bowl mold.
Make one long snake with air dry clay and press detail lines into it with a toothpick. Press snake onto the bottom of the bowl. Let dry completely.
Paint bowl as shown and allow to dry completely
To make the hearts uniform, cut them out of a piece of paper and lightly trace them onto the bottom of the bowl with a pencil, then fill in with paint.
