Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
From a piece of the Granite Floral Slab that is remaining, cut out a medium sized circle. Cut the circle into two halves for the top part of the earrings.
Now we will make the Granite Marble Slab. Marble patterns are really easy to make from multi-colored scraps of clay. We will use the clays that are left over from both the Granite Floral Slab and the Granite Terrazzo Slab. Before we proceed, make absolutely sure that you no longer need any of the slab.

Gather your scraps of clay together.
Wad the scraps of clay into logs.
Roll and twist the log to make lots of thin stripes. Push from each end toward the middle to make the log thick.
Slice the thick log in half. By slicing it in half, you will have twice as much marbled material to make into sheets.
Roll the halves of the log with the Clay Roller to flatten them to about 1/8” thick.
Use the large circle cutter to cut a circle out of the slab. Cut the circle in half to use for the bottom section of the earrings. Set the rest of the Granite Marble Slab aside to make the Granite Marble Slab Planter.

Line the earring pieces up and poke holes in them so that they can be assembled with jump rings after baking.
Bake the pieces following the baking instructions for Sculpey PremoTM. When they are completely cool, assemble as shown with jump rings using flat nose pliers.
