Project Instructions
    Getting Started:
Please make sure your work area is covered and you are not working on an unprotected surface. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Oven-Safe Work Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Uncured clay may damage unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Be sure to cover your crafting area appropriately.

Start with clean hands, unwrap and knead clay until soft and smooth, or condition by running clay though a Pasta Machine. We recommend using a designated machine for clay purposes only. When working with multiple colors, clean hands with soap and water or baby wipes (we have found that baby wipes work best) before switching colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces firmly together. Wash hands after use.

    Baking:
Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). After you are done creating; for best results bake clay on an oven-proof surface such metal, aluminum foil, an index card or the Sculpey® Clay Mat at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per 1/4" (6 mm) thickness according to package directions. Oven safe glass or ceramic surfaces are also acceptable for baking; however please note that the baking times may take longer as the glass or ceramic surfaces take longer to heat up. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME.
Roll 1/4 bar of White to a sheet not more than 1/8” thick. Make sure the sheet is large enough to accommodate two of the large arch shapes from the Jewelry Template.
Pinch off little bits from the Graphite Pearl bar and randomly press them onto the White sheet.
Pinch off little bits from the Pearl bar and randomly press them onto the White sheet. It’s okay if they overlap the Graphite Pearl bits.
Roll over the sheet with the Roller Tube to make the bits level with the background.
Cut out two large arch shapes using the Knife Tool and the Jewelry Template. From 1/16 bar of Black, make two round domes.
Roll 1/4 bar of Pearl to a sheet 1/16” thick. Cut out two large arch shapes using the Knife Tool and the Jewelry Template.

Bend hooks into two of the eye pins with round nose pliers. Press one of the hooks into one of the Pearl pieces making sure the little eye is exposed above the top edge of the Pearl.

Sandwich the hook between the Pearl backing and the speckled front. Repeat for the second piece.
Make two very small Black pieces that can easily hide behind the Black domes. Bend hooks into the ends of the remaining two eye pins with round nose pliers. Push the hook of one of the eye pins into the Black piece. Position the eye that is exposed at the top of the arch into the Black clay as well.

Press the Black dome over the top of the black piece, sandwiching the hook and the eye inside. Only the eye at the top of the Black piece should show above the Black dome.

Repeat for the second piece, making a pair for earrings.
Bake the pieces following the baking instructions for Sculpey Premo™. When they are completely cool, carefully open the eye at the bottom of each ear wire with flat nose pliers and attach to the eye at the top of the clay piece. Close the eyes with flat nose pliers.
