Sculpey Eraser Clay Porcupine Pencil Holder

Getting Started:Polymer clay may stain. CLAY MAY DAMAGE UNPROTECTED FURNITURE OR FINISHED SURFACES. DO NOT USE polymer clay on unprotected surfaces. We recommend working on the Sculpey® Work ‘n Bake Clay Mat, wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130 °C) for 30 minutes per ¼" (6 mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult. Begin by preheating oven to 275 °F (130 °C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the Clay Conditioning Machine for several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Shape Brown into a big oval that is flat on the bottom.

Shape a big White cone and push it onto the front of the Brown oval.

Smooth the sides of the White cone around the sides of the oval body. Pinch the tip of the cone up into a little pointy nose.

Push some little round Brown ears into place where the White face meets the Brown body. Texture as much of the face as you would like with the Etch ’n Pearl tool. I just textured the edge of the White into the Brown.

Push ear canals into the ears with a ball tool.

Add a little Brown nose to the tip of the nose area on the face.

Push two little dents in for the eye sockets and fill with Black clay.

Push a little mouth in under the nose with the scoop tool.

Add a little pink tongue to the mouth.

With a sharpened pencil, push holes into the body. Make as many holes as you like and then go back and poke the pencil in each one again to make sure they are open.

Bake the porcupine at 275 for 20 minutes. When he is done and completely cool, you can add your pencils.
