Do you ever feel like doing clay, but not really "doing" clay? You want something easy, yet great at the same time? My One Block Wonder is perfect for that... 1 block of clay and 1 hour of time! Now I'm busy cooking corned beef and thinking about green beer tonight, so this project fit right into my schedule.
I know we all hear that we should "set a good example for our kids." But there is one part of this example setting we tend to overlook- how you spend your "downtime". If you have hobbies that you clearly enjoy, that entertain you, the chances are that your kids will look for hobbies that they enjoy also and will fill their "downtime" creatively also.
Now I've done it... I've basically invited the whole polymer clay community into my studio, and you know what they're gonna find out... I'm just not that organized! You'd think with 3 filing drawers, 26 storage drawers and 30 cabinets, I'd have "a place for everything and everything in its place." Well, I do have a place for everything, but rarely is everything in it's place. Are you like this?
Here is a super easy way to make fun Holiday Candy Canes or Lollipops for gifts, packages or your own tree!
I used Premo clays in Frost White Glitter, Pomegranite, and Green. Condition your Frost White Glitter clay really
well and then roll out a long snake maybe 5" or so about 3/4" thick. Next make two very thin snakes of Pomeganite
and Green. (you can use your clay extruder if you want these to be perfectly the same size)
Well, the wrapping has begun! I actually love to wrap gifts. I love to go out and pick out the wrapping paper. I am
kind of picky about it. I like to get a few different kinds with matching ribbon and bows. When it's time to wrap
I get all my supplies ready and spread out on the floor and turn on some Christmas music. This really gets me in the spirit! I just love a pretty package.
This past Friday I participated in a local craft fair at Bowdoin College. It is called the Sunsplash Festival and it is
to celebrate the last day of classes for students and faculty. It is also open to the public. This fair has been going on
for the past 15 years so it is really well established. 70 vendors participated. It is held in their beautiful Smith Union
building where they have two cafes and the college bookstore. It's a neat venue because the way it's designed is
Hello! I am so happy to be here on the Design Squad Blog!
I really enjoyed Patti's post about her family Christmas tree. It was fun to see the photos of her many polymer clay ornaments from over the years. I thought I would continue on the ornament theme as I am getting ready for a craft fair and making lots of ornaments myself. I would love to share a couple with you.
I love the season of Fall. I don't get into Halloween much, and I'm relieved now that my kids are a little older that I don't have to deal with costumes and trick or treating anymore. But I love the changing seasons, the leaves changing colors, then making piles that crunch underfoot. (Thankfully, we live in the country and blow our leaves from around the house down our tree-covered hillside and let nature take care of them!) What does this all have to do with polymer, you ask?
