Inspiration can come from so many places.  Some unexpected!

My boys and I were over at our neighbor's house taking care of their cats while they were away.  I happened

to notice this cute little painted wooden sign hanging on the wall.  It said "If friends were flowers I'd pick you".

I thought this was so cute.

I had been racking my brain recently trying to come up with a gift idea for the ladies I work with.  At the end

of each school year I like to give them each a little gift just to say thanks for being such great friends and co-workers.

After taking care of the kitties we went home and click! that's when the lightbulb went on in my head.

Ha that's it!  Flowers!   Flower pins!  I could make them each a flower pin and then have that little quote

written somewhere.   My friends are all avid gardeners and love their flowers so I thought this

idea would be perfect and I could make it myself!

I got started thinking about the colors each one likes and what kind of flowers might suit their personalities.

I got out my little set of Premo! cutters.  There are a couple of petal shaped ones that work great for making

flower petals.   I had so much fun!! Once I got rolling different flowers ideas kept coming.  When the flowers were finished, baked and cooled I  simply super glued a pin to the back of each and then coated them with some Sculpey

gloss finish.

My next challenge was figuring out how to get that nice little quote attached to the pin.   I wanted them to look

somewhat professional so I didn't want to hand write the quote.   I purchased some nice green card stock.

I ended up just finding a font that I liked on my computer and then printed the quote on the card stock.

I cut out little squares and then attached the pins.   I was really pleased the way they came together.

I wrapped them all in tissue and a pretty ribbon.

On our last day of school and clean up we always go to lunch together.  I presented them all their gifts at lunch.

They were a big hit!   They all put them on and we took some pictures.  Even our waitress commented on them.

Well I was thrilled that my idea came together.  It is such a nice feeling to make something for the people you care about.

You never know where that next great idea may come from.
