Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 275F (130C)
1. Begin by rolling a 3/4 inch ball of ecru. Using your toothpick
press in your two glass beads about half way down on the face
1/4 inch or less apart, use your needle tool to press in two
small wrinkles next to each 'eye'.

2. Roll out a very thin sheet of your red clay and cut out a
tiny triangle for the nose (see photo) apply to face. Next, using
your needle tool, carve in a smile, and begin pressing in stitch
marks along the line with your needle.
 3. Next we're going to roll out a very thin sheet of our yellow
clay. I've cut it into a rectangle about 2 inches long and 2/3rds
of an inch wide. Using your sharp blade cut little slices into
the clay without cutting all the way to the top, we're trying
to simulate straw hair but we want it to stay together. Set Aside.

4. Roll a 3/4 inch ball of your brown clay into a cone and using
your thumb press a hollow into the base.

5. Next we're going to apply the sheet of 'hair' around the
head, it's not supposed to cover the top so don't worry! The
hat will cover his bald spot. Trim the hair as needed, the sheet
may wrap around too far. Then we're going to continue coaxing
our hat into a hat shape, pinch the top and flatten out the bottom,
apply it over the bald spot.

6. The last detail is his hat patch! I've used a really basic
slice of a plaid cane, but you can use a small square of marbled
leftover clay, or even a plain red patch to match his nose! apply
it to the middle of the hat and using your needle tool press
in tiny little stitch marks. Using your toothpick carefully pierce
the top of the hat for stringing later.
 7. If using Sculpey III, cure/bake the piece for 15 minutes
per 1/4 inch, or 30 per 1/4 inch if using Premo! Sculpey. Combine
with glass or polymer clay beads for a really unique holiday
piece! Enjoy :)
