Susan Berkowitz
Susan Berkowitz has been making jewelry since her first metalsmithing class back in the 1970's at the Worcester Craft center. She has been working with polymer clay for more than 13 years; after seeing the clay at the International Bead affaire in Watertown, Massachusetts, many years ago. She was drawn to the vibrant colors and versatility of the medium. Susan continues to integrate beadwork, wire and fibers into her polymer pieces in as many ways as she can.
Susan is the treasurer and past vice president of the San Diego Polymer Clay Guild, and a member of the San Diego Bead Society. She has recently left her focus on jewelry to begin a line of polymer clay and fiber arts dolls, and mixed media art quilts that incorporate polymer embellishments. Susan prefers to keep her work whimsical and of-beat, frequently including faces or human forms in her work.
Susan's work has been featured in Jewelry Crafts and expressions magazines, and in the galleries of several polymer clay and beading books, and can be found on the Polyform website. She lives in San Diego with her family and cats.
