Ever since I was a child I have been involved in some kind of crafting. Quilting, appliquéd shirts, sewing, drawing, .the list could go on and on. In 1994 I discovered polymer clay and at that point all of my other crafting was left behind as I began to explore this fabulous material. 12 years later I am pleased with the many unexpected directions that it has taken me in.
In 2003 I answered a call for work to be submitted to 2 polymer clay books: "Celebrations in Polymer Clay" by Sarajane Helm and "Artful Ways with Polymer Clay" by Dottie McMillan. Pieces were accepted to both books. The acceptance boosted my confidence enough to begin submitting to other publications. Currently work has been published in PolymerCafe, Pack-O-Fun, and Decorating Digest magazines and online with Sculpey.com, HGTV.com, and pcpolyzine.com. As a member of SCD (Society of Creative Designers) I participated in the "House That Crafts Built" (ACCI 2003 & CHA 2004).
I have been told my work does not fit into any one category (other than polymer clay being a common thread through all of it). It includes sculpture, caned designs, jewelry, functional art for the home, wearable art pieces, scrapbooking, and card making.
I live in Stafford, VA with my husband of 18yrs and our 3 children (aged 7, 14, & 16yrs). Currently I teach clay classes to children and adults at local bead shops and in regular after-school classes. My work is sold in 3 local shops, online, and by word of mouth
