Instructions:

  • Condition Translucent clay and run through pasta machine several times on a #3 setting. If clay is sticky, you may have to leach it between white paper for a couple of hours. Then, run through pasta machine on a #4 setting. (Note: you may “include” a small amount of dried flower petals or dried herbs such as tarragon for an interesting look.)
  • Using a paper template cut clay into desired bookmark shape. You may also trace around an existing bookmark.

  • Ink the stamp using the Stayz-On Solvent Ink Pads and press firmly onto the clay to transfer the inked image, do not allow the stamp to make an impression into the clay.

  • Add the eyelet by hand, and use a toothpick to clean out the hole. You will set the eyelet after baking and cooling.
  • Bake the book mark in a calibrated oven set to an accurate 275 degrees F for about 20 minutes. This bookmark is about 1/16” thick.
  • Allow the bookmark to cool; Using the appropriately sized eyelet setter and pad, pound and set the eyelet. Then, finish edges with the Gold Leafing Pen.

  • Use your choice of ribbon, yarn or fiber (threaded through eyelet) to complete your bookmark.
