Directions:

Step One - Body and Arms

  • Start by mixing 1/2" blue pearl and 1" white. Mix until completely blended.
  • Take a 7/8" ball of this mixture and shape into triangular shape but be sure to soften the corners.
  • For the arms take two 5/8" balls of the same mixture and shape each into a carrot shape. Press these to the top of the body extending outward.
  • Press two 1/8" balls of white for buttons on the front of the body. With the stylus indent the center of each ball and then poke two holes for button holes with the needle.

Step Two - Head, Legs and Hands

  • For the head roll a 7/8" ball and press this to the top of the body and to the arms. Straight pins will help to keep the head secure. Press the pin so it is halfway in the body and the other half will be for the head.
  • For the legs, roll two 1/2" balls of beige and roll each so it is only about 1/4" thick and a little over 1/4" long. Press these to the bottom of the body using the straightpins again
  • The hands are two 5/16" balls of beige pressed to the ends of the arms. With the ball stylus poke a small hole in the bottom of each hand for the birdhouse and the heart.

Step Three - Socks and Shoes

  • For the socks, roll two balls of 5/16" and gently flatten in your fingers until about 1/8" thick. Now press these to the bottom of the leg.
  • Now take two 5/8" balls of black clay. Roll these into teardrop shapes and press these to the bottom of the socks. Before adding the strap on the shoe, you need to add the sock to the top of the shoe. To do this take two 1/4" balls and flatten them in your fingertips. Press to the top of the black shoe.
  • Now take two 1/4" black balls and roll them to about 1/2" long. Press them flat and place over the top of the shoe and the sock for the strap. Now add two 1/8" balls of white for the buttons.

Step Four - Birdhouse and Heart and Bows.

  • For the birdhouse, take a 5/8" ball of blue/white mixture and shape into a square and flatten to about 1/4" thick. Now pinch one end of the square for the peak of the roof.
  • Take a 1/2" ball of white and roll to about 1". Gently flatten slightly with your fingers and wrap across the top of the birdhouse. With the stylus, poke a hole in the front of the birdhouse and another in the top so the string can be added after it has been baked.
  • The heart was made with a Kemper cutter (heart shaped 5/8"). Again poke a hole with the stylus so the string can be added later. For the bows you will need four 1/4" balls of blue/white mixture. Pinch each ball into a small triangle and press them point to point. Now place a 1/8" ball into the center of each bow. They will be baked and added later.

Baking Instructions:

The rule of thumb for baking is: 275 degrees F (130 degrees C) for 30 minutes per ¼" of thickness for Premo! Sculpey.

Finishing Steps:

  • Before baking, you will need to add the eyes, blush, and poke the holes for her hair. With your needle, press the seed beads sideways into the face for the eyes. Color the cheeks with some chalk or makeup blush.
  • With the ball stylus, poke the holes in the top of the head for the hair. These should be placed about 1/8" apart. They will be two small circles running along the side of her face to the center of her part. The two circles will meet at the part. The reason for the two circles is so the hair can be separated for two pony tails.
  • Also, before baking, the eye hook should be placed into the top of the head. Place this toward the back so it doesn't interfere too much with the hair. Now she is ready to be baked.
  • After she is cooled you are ready for her hair!! You will need to cut enough strands for each hole. They should be at least 6 or seven inches long each. With a toothpick, dab some glue into the hole. (Only work with a couple holes at a time so the glue does not dry out).
  • Pick up a strand of hair, fold it in half and then twist the folded end with your fingers. With a needle, press the twisted end into the hole as deep as it will go. You can then press again with the ball stylus to be sure it is secure. Be sure to only apply the hair to one circle at a time. After one side is done let it dry for about 15 minutes. Then you can take the thread and tie into a ponytail. Repeat the same process on the opposite side of the head. This is a longer process but it is well worth the effort when done. After the hair is up in the ponytails you can cover the string with the small bows made of clay with glue.
  • Now dab glue again in the top of the birdhouse and the hands and attach the string to both the hand and birdhouse and then from the heart to the hand. Next tie the ribbon on the hook and she is ready!
