Behold! The Mold

I have such a blast using push molds and Sculpey clay in my scrapbook art. Custom made embellishments are easy to make, and it’s so cool to add dimension without too much bulk. For this album about my son’s pre-school days, I created a touchable title in his school colors. Here’s how you can create unique page accents using EZ Release push molds from Sculpey.

Materials and Tools:

  • Premo! Sculpey clay in color of choice. I used Pearl 5101.
  • Push mold. I used the Alphabet EZ Release Push Mold.
  • Paints in color of choice. I used Metallic Red from DecoArt.
  • Paintbrush.

Directions:

  • Condition clay well. For each letter, roll a pea sized ball, and press into the mold.
  • Bend the mold back to release the letter. If the clay doesn’t release easily, place the mold in freezer for about a minute and try again.
  • Bake at 275 degrees F for about fifteen minutes. If the pieces are not flat after baking, place a ceramic tile or heavy book on top of the warm clay until it cools.
  • Paint letters as desired.
  • Use glue dots or E6000 glue to adhere accents to your scrapbook page.
