Instructions:
1. Condition clay: Knead red clay in your hands until soft and pliable. Roll clay into a 1/8" thick sheet with the acrylic rod.
2. Texture clay: Brush texture sheet with a coat of Aztec gold mica powder, shake off excess powder. Lay texture sheet over one half of the red clay sheet, and roll texture into the clay using the acrylic rod. Center Shapelet template heart over the textured clay, and cut out a heart with the craft knife.
3. Create backing: Place textured heart over the part of the plain red clay sheet that is not textured or powdered. Press heart gently onto the red clay. Trim background sheet into a heart 1/8" larger than the textured heart. Remove excess clay. Smooth edges of background heart with your fingers.
4. Add loop: With the tip of the round nosed pliers, bend the 2" eye pin or wire in half, forming a 1/8" loop in the center. Twist the ends of the wire together. Trim the twisted portion of the wire to 1/4". Insert the loop into the top of the backing layer of clay on the heart; the loop should be parallel to the surface of the pendant. Bake the heart pendant for 20 minutes at 275 degrees (F) and cool. Brush a coat of Sculpey Glaze Gloss on only the textured portion of the heart pendant and allow it to dry. Add a jump ring to the loop on the heart, and close the ring completely.
5. Bead necklace: Mark the center of the piece of memory wire with a fine-tipped permanent marker. With round nosed pliers, bend a double loop on one end of the memory wire, making sure there are no sharp ends sticking out. String 4mm amber faceted glass beads on the wire until you reach the center of the necklace (where it is marked). Add on pendant and string on amber beads up to within 3/4" from the other end of the wire. Make a double loop to finish off the memory wire.
