Coal
The Coal pieces can be used for mouth, nose, or eye decorations for your snowman.
What you'll need:
- 2oz. of Sculpey III Black
- Sculpey Clay Tool with flat end
Directions
1. Divide your black into 3 pieces. One piece will be 1/2 of the black and the other two pieces should be 1/4 each. Roll each up into a ball and then flatten them. They should not be perfect circles because, remember, this is supposed to look like coal.

2. Using the clay tool, make random dents all over the top of your coal pieces. See the instructions for placing a screw in the back before baking.

Instructions for inserting screws into snowman pieces
In order to make your snowman decorations attach to your snowman, you'll need to insert something into the back of each piece before baking. A 2" to 3" screw will work well and hold up for a long time.
1. After your pieces are constructed, turn them over. Gently press the head of the screw into the middle of the back of each piece.

2. You may even want to reinforce the screw by putting a piece of scrap clay all the way around it. It doesn't matter what color you use, this part will not be seen. When the screws are inserted and secure, bake the entire piece. You may bake the pieces up side down with the screws pointing up. You'll want to line your baking sheet with a piece of white paper just to make sure nothing gets picked up from the pan onto the front of your decorations. Bake at 275 for 15 minutes.
