Directions: Wash
hands thoroughly. Using a small ball of white scrap clay, roll and
rub the clay in hands to aid in cleaning the hands with clay.
Directions are shown how
to make one snow baby. These steps must be repeated in order to
make all three of the snow babies. It’s
easier to make the body parts of all the snow babies at the same
time.
Body:
- Blend white and pearl until well mixed. This gives the white clay
a very nice pearly and shimmery look. After blending, roll clay through
pasta machine on the #1 setting (#1 being the thickest setting) and
place clay down on work surface. Use the 1-1/2 inch circle cutter
and cut out 4 circles, combine them and roll into a ball, then reshape
into a teardrop. This is the basic body shape for all three of the
snowmen.

- Cut
out 2 more circles using the 1-1/2 inch cutter, cut them into quarters
and use ¾ of each circle for each arm. Roll into a ball
and then reshape into teardrop.

For
the legs, cut out 2 circles of clay, roll into balls and reshape
into larger teardrops.

Shape
foot by pinching the wide part of the teardrop, using thumb and
index finger to resemble foot, use photo as guide. Do this for
both legs.

- Attach
the limbs to body, as shown and blend well.

- See
No Evil snow baby: the narrow part of the teardrop
is attached at the top of
the shoulders and the arms are bent upward,
to cover his eyes.
- Speak
No Evil snow baby: the narrow part of the teardrop
is attached at the top of the shoulders and the arms are bent
upward to cover
his mouth.
- Hear
No Evil snow baby: the narrow part of the teardrop
is attached to the side of his body. His arms are pointing
upward and will cover
his ears.
- Use the
needle tool to impress folds in arms where elbows would
be.
- Use
a wide end knitting needle to make a belly button by press the
tip of the needle into the center of the body.
Head:
-
Cut out 2 circles using the circle cutter. Cut one into quarters.
Combine one complete circle and ¼ of the other circle and
roll into a ball (slightly larger than ¾ inches).

- Insert seed beads for eyes. Using needle tool press 3 lines
near eyes for smile. Add nose, small pinch of orange rolled into
small oval and attach to face. Using ½ inch Kemper leaf cutter,
press a smile on the face under the orange nose. Turn the cutter
around and use the sharp end to finish the smile. Brush cheeks with
blush.
- Cut 2 toothpicks in half. Put a dab of translucent liquid sculpey
on top of body. Insert toothpick and then attach head.
-
Hear No Evil – Roll blue pearl through pasta machine down to
a #4. Scarf is ¼ inch wide and 3 ½ inches long. Wrap
scarf around neck as shown.

- Speak No Evil – cut a ¼ inch
wide strip of red pearl clay about 1 inch long. Attach to the
top of head, roll two 5/16
(approximately) red balls, flatten slightly, and attach
one to each side of head to resemble earmuffs.
- See No Evil – flatten
green pearl clay to #4 on the pasta machine. Use 1-inch wide
circle cutter and cut one. Place on head.
Use needle
tool to scratch hat. Cut a strip of green pearl, ¼ inch
wide and about 4 inches long, wrap around band of hat. Roll
a ¼ inch ball of clay and attach to top of hat.
- Adjust
arms as necessary to cover eyes, ears and mouth.
- Use Kemper
cutters to imprint designs on feet, if desired.

- Bake for
an hour at 275 degrees F. Use an oven thermometer as white clay
will significantly darken
if the oven temperature is too high.
