Materials:
- Premo!Sculpey clays 1-2oz each:
- #5001
white
- #5092 beige
- #5101 pearl
- #5703 glow-in-the-dark and a pinch of blue (a pinch of
red may be substituted if making a girl ornament)
- 1oz Sculpey #3001 Granitex brown
- 1oz Sculpey #093 beige
- Clay dedicated pasta machine
- Kemper star cutter set
- 2”-3” circle cutter
- Wavy blade
- Straight edge tool
- Pokey tool (I use a large knitting needle)
- Toothpick or turkey lacer
Directions:
1) Condition the white Premo! Sculpey clay. Roll through pasta machine
from #1-#4, #1 being the thickest. Cut out 1 circle, using circle
cutter. Set aside extra white until later.
2) Mix either 1oz white or 1oz pearl with a pinch of blue. Blend
well until uniform in color. Roll this light blue mix through
the pasta
machine from #1-#4. Cut out a circle (same size as step 1) from
the light blue sheet. **Please note: If making a sleeping
girl a pinch
of red can be substituted for the blue, then blend as directed.** 3) Cut the light blue circle in half. 1 half will be used for this
ornament. The other can be set aside until later.

4) Make
a small snake (about ¼” thick x 2” long).
Roll this through the pasta machine lengthwise on #4 setting. Lay out
flat on your work surface. Using the wavy blade, cut 1 edge of the
white clay. This will give you a “ruffle”.

5) Lay the straight edge of the white clay along the straight
edge of the light blue ½ circle. Smooth the 2 pieces together. Detail
the “ruffle” using your toothpick or turkey lacer.
 6) Condition the pearl clay. Roll a log about ½” thick
x 1” long. Lay this log in the center of your white
circle. Be sure to leave room at the top and bottom of your
log for the rest of
the steps.
7) Cut 2 square pieces from the light blue scrap you set
aside in step 3 and a pea sized ball from the same clay.
Place the
pea-sized ball
of clay in the center of 1 of the light blue squares. Place
the other
light blue square over the top and gently seal the edges.
Place the “pillow” at
the top of the pearl log on the white circle.

 8) Blend equal parts of Sculpey beige and Premo! Sculpey
beige clays until uniform in color. This will be your
skin color.
Use a bit to
make a ball (about ¾”) for the head. Add
a pinch of clay for the nose. Draw on closed eyes with
the toothpick or turkey lacer.
Make an open mouth with the pokey tool.
 9) Ears are made using two ¼” balls of clay. Roll each
ball into a small log and position on each side of the head. Poke the
center with your tool and push against the head. This will attach the
ears.
10) Hair can be added by making thin snakes of your
choice of color (Granitex brown works well). Attach
the snakes
to the top
of the
head.

11) Attach the head to the body (pearl log) by using
a small piece of toothpick. Insert one end of the
toothpick into
the pearl log
and the other end of the toothpick into the head.
Press together. 12) Take a small amount of the skin color and
roll a ball about ¼”.
Gently roll this ball between your thumb and forefinger until it resembles
a bal on a golf tee. Slightly flatten the ball. This will become the
hand. Use the straight edge tool to make finger lines. Separate the “thumb” slightly
from the rest of the fingers.
  13) Make a 3/8” ball from the pearl clay. Flatten to #4 in the
pasta machine (or with your fingers). Cut one edge straight. Place
the straight edge over the “golf tee” and up against the
hand. Pick up the two pieces and roll the pearl clay around the “golf
tee”. This will become the sleeve.
 14) Attach the sleeve to the body. Bend at
the elbow and insert the thumb into open
mouth.

15)
Condition glow-in-the-dark clay. Cut out a few stars. Scatter
on white circle.
 16) For teddy bear: Condition small amount
of Granitex brown. Roll a 5/8” ball, then roll this into a log about ¾” long.
Make a small cut lengthwise on one end of the log. Separate the clay
on either side of the cut. These are the bear’s arms.

Add a 5/16” ball
for the head. Attach the head to the body in between the arms. Add
a pinch of clay for the bear’s nose. Draw closed eyes with the
toothpick or turkey lacer. Make 2 tiny balls (about 3/16”) and
attach them where the ears should be. Poke the center of each with
the pokey tool and press towards the head. Place the bear next to the
child’s body.

17) Finally…place the “top sheet” (light blue with
ruffled edge) over the body, bear, and stars. Position the child’s
arm to rest on top of the sheet. Press
around the edges of the light blue sheet
to attach it securely to the white bottom
sheet.

18) Poke holes on either side of the
pillow. A string can be strung through
these after
baking, so the
ornament will
hang.
19) Bake at 275 Degrees F for an hour.
Let cool and then hang. This ornament is the perfect yearly Christmas ornament,
new baby gift, baptism or christening remembrance…the list
goes on. Enjoy your creation.
