Instructions:

Paint

Apply two coats of green paint to the body of the sled and two coats of red to the runners. Allow paint to dry between coats and before attaching clay pieces.

Mix Colors

Flesh = 3 parts Beige + 1 part Translucent

Santa Mold

Fill nose with Flesh mix, then fill eyebrows, hair tuft, mustache, and beard with White. Fill mittens with Seagreen. Place tiny balls of Black into the buttons, and then fill shoes with Black. Fill the face and head with Flesh mix. Lastly, fill the legs, body and arms with Red Pearl. Pop the Santa from the mold and add a tiny teardrop of Flesh for the mouth using the cuticle stick to insert it point first below the mustache. Press in black beads for eyes and add eye creases to face with needle tool.

Roll a White snake and flatten slightly. Place it across the top of the shoes where they meet the pants. Using the needle tool, press the white fur into the crease between the legs, then trim off the white snake on the other side of the body. Roll a thinner white snake, flatten and apply short sections between the sleeves and mittens. Make a hole through the center of the mittens using the needle tool and widen the hole with the cuticle stick.

Accessories

Mold a Ho first with White, then Seagreen, and finally Red Pearl. Mold holly leaves with Seagreen and berries with Red Pearl.

Mold light bulbs by placing Silver clay into the screw top of the bulb, followed by Cadmium Yellow in the bulb section. Make the other lights, one each with Orange, Seagreen, Ultramarine Blue, Purple, and Red Pearl. Pierce each light horizontally through the silver top section with the needle tool.

Bake

Bake all clay pieces on a ceramic tile or other smooth, flat surface for 40 minutes at 275ºF. Allow to cool completely.

Finishing

Using the end of a toothpick, dot green paint on the red Ho, red paint on the green Ho, and green and red paint on the white Ho. Using super glue gel, attach each Ho to the top of the sled. Glue holly leaves to the center top of the sled.

Coil telephone wire ~ 4 times around a thin dowel or knitting needle. Thread first light bulb on, continue coiling wire ~ 6-7 times, and add the next light bulb. Continue until all bulbs are strung between coiled wire.

Glue Santa to the center bottom of the sled. Bend, stretch, and arrange lights in a pleasing fashion, glue ends of wire into holes in mittens.

Brush entire assembly of clay pieces and painted wood with a matte or satin finish.
