- This art is especially
designed with thick, black borders,
which is meant to be mostly cut away. You will
need to size the images by clicking on them and enlarging.
- Flat pieces will be trimmed in blocks, while dimensional pieces
will be trimmed precisely before baking.
Treating the Photos and Flat Components:
- Cut photos
and flat components so there are ample margins that will be
trimmed later.

- With Black Gel Pen, write narrative on the “parchment”.
Let dry. Using your craft brush, coat the edges of the backside with
TLS and lie on glass cutting board. Coat front of piece with TLS,
brushing with even strokes in the same direction, coating paper to
the edge and onto the glass. This will help “glue it down” while
baking.
- Bake
according to label instructions. (Add touches of glitter
prior to baking, if desired).
- Be sure not to obscure photo image or text.
- Let cool on the glass.
- Remove
with tissue blade, sliding it underneath piece. Some
edges will have rubbery excess.

- Trim with scissors. For the photos, leave enough
white around the photo to adhere to frame later.
For the components,
trim into black border as described above.
Making the Frames and Tiles:
- Cut
out dimensional pieces by trimming into black border.

- Cut
out the opening by punching with a hole punch and inserting
small scissors into hole to start the cut.

- Condition and roll a package of black Premo through the #1 setting
of the pasta machine.
- Position clay on glass and smooth.
-
With toothpick, coat the back of the frame or tile with Aileen’s
Reverse Collage Glue, being sure to get glue to the edges. Lay on
raw clay and let dry a minute or so.
- Using
your sharp craft knife, trim away excess clay. Trim a second
time to clean up the edges.

- Use your finger, or the dull side of the knife blade to remove any
cutting crumbles and roll into scrap. The scrap may be used to make
the remaining components. Add more clay as needed.
- Coat each piece evenly with the TLS, adding a little glitter as above.
Use enough pressure to fan the brush bristles. Look for dimples,
where the TLS has skipped the surface and brush over until the dimple
disappears.
- If
you see crumbles on the surface, pick them up with the
brush and brush onto glass.

- Bake
and let pieces cool on glass. When cool, remove as above. Trim
any drips with the craft knife.
Assembling the Page:
- Place frames on top of treated photos.
-
Trace around the outside of the frame to know where to crop your
photo, then trim 1/8” inside that line.
- Attach patterned sheet to scrapbook page with double stick tape.
- Score the backs of the tiles and frames. Apply double stick tape.
- Position frames over photos and attach. Apply more double stick tape
to back of photo and attach to page. Arrange and attach remaining
components to page.
