Directions:
General
Directions:
The
pasta machine is used to roll sheets of clay that are of a uniform
thickness quickly and easily.
The
pasta machine has a dial (usually numbered from 1-6) with which you
change the thickness.For
these directions, setting #1 is the thickest.
Work
on sheets of white copy paper or large index cards. Do not work on
fine furniture.
Pin
Directions:
Break
your bars of clay in 1/2. With a handi-wipe or baby wipe, clean the
rollers of the pasta machine.
Pinch the end of a section of white clay so that it will easily pass
through the rollers. Roll it through on a #1 setting 2-3 times, folding
in half each time in the same direction.
Change
the setting to #3. Roll out a smooth sheet of white and set aside.
Repeat the above steps for a section of red clay.
Lay
the sheet of red clay on top of the sheet of white clay.
With
the Sculpey Super Slicer blade, trim the "stack" of clay into a large
rectangle.
Slice
the rectangle in half. Stack one atop the other, being certain that
the stripes are alternating. Cut in half again and stack again. Press
to be certain that the sheets are sticking to one another. Let sit
for a few minutes.
Cut
slices about 1/8" thick.
Then,
run each slice LENGTHWISE through the pasta machine on a #5 setting.
You will have a long, flexible ribbon. Trim the ribbon into pieces
about 1" long, tapering one end.

Condition
the blue clay as you previously did the white and red clay. Run through
on a #5 setting. You will have a large, thin sheet.
Use
your Sculpey Super Slicer blade to cut 2" sections the same width
as the red/white lengths.
On the work paper, lay a blue section down and put a red/white length
on each end. Press together.

Fold
the entire strip into the ribbon shape and press together.

Cut
stars from a #5 sheet of white clay. Add a star under the fold and
two on top on the blue segment.

Bake
ribbons on index cards in a glass baking dish in an oven set reliably
to 265 degrees (use an external thermometer to check accuracy of dial)
for 15 minutes. When cool, glue pinbacks on the ribbons with super
glue gel.
