Directions:
1. Download the
patriotic clip art from www.bellarosapaperarts.com
or here Patriotic
Art From Bella Rosa Paper Arts (zip file). Resize images if desired
(I reduced mine to make them more "pin-sized").
2. Print the images
onto the tattoo paper, following instructions in the package. Remember
to select "reverse image" on your print setup screen! The tattoo paper
measures 5.5 x 8.5 inches, so take care feeding it onto your printer!
I have the best luck when I tape it down to another sheet of paper.
3. Once the ink
is dry, remove the release paper from one side of the adhesive sheet
included with the tattoo "kit". Place the page of printed images face
down on the adhesive, pressing carefully to make sure no air bubbles
are trapped between the layers.
4. Cut out images.

5. Condition
black and pearl clays (separately) by rolling and kneading them until
they are smooth and pliable. Roll out a sheet of pearl clay that is
approximately 1/16th inch thick. Remove the white release paper from
the images, revealing the adhesive, and place them face down on the
clay.
6. Burnish well
to insure complete contact with the clay. Wet the backs of each image.
Once the paper is soaked through, it should slide easily off the clay,
revealing the images now transferred to the surface of the pearl clay.
Blot the clay dry. Trim away excess clay.

7. Prepare a sheet
of black clay 1/16th inch thick. Layer each image onto this sheet,
pressing carefully to avoid trapping air. Place a sheet of wax paper
over the images and press firmly along the edges of each to anchor
them firmly on the black clay.
8. Cut around
images, leaving a small border. The Super Slicer is flexible, so it
is possible to cut both straight and gently curved edges to suit your
design.

9. Place pieces
on baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes at 275 degrees. Allow to cool.
10. The transfers
shrink and wrinkle a bit on the clay when heated. I like this effect-
I think it adds to the "aged" look of the finished piece. But you
may note some residual stickiness along the edges of the pieces once
they are cool. Place a small amount of corn starch or baby powder
on your finger and run it over these sticky areas to eliminate them.
11. Coat each
pin with one or more thin coats of Future floor finish to seal them.
12. Glue on pin
backs with strong glue (I prefer a two-part epoxy for a very secure
bond).
