I – Karen Prince
I had my husband to cut out an "I" from wood that I drew out, then covered it with textured clay. I used white tacky glue to help it adhere to the wood. I rubber stamped the wording in the middle with pigment ink. The matching elements at the top and bottom
I did by hand drawing my design, cutting it from layered clay, doing the texture technique where you then use the slicer to cut off thin slices from the top. I really don't know what you call this. I caught the end of it on The Carol Duvall Show. After I placed it on my "I" I ran a tiny snake around the whole thing and put thick embossing powder on it before baking. This gave it the shiny appearance. The wings of the dragonfly and butterfly was a cane I made up and then brushed a little bit of pigment powder on. The leaves and vines I handmade and added. I pretreated the canvas with the liquid Sculpey and then used decorator's chalk to add color.
Karen is a life long crafter. She resides in North Carolina and is married with no children, except for her god-daughter, Nicole. She loves working with polymer clay and coming up with new designs, Sculpey III is her favorite.
