D - Patty Barnes
Patty Barnes is a retired art teacher with over 19 years experience working with polymer clay. As a designer and artist, she demos for Polyform Products and also teaches classes at several arts and craft stores on a regular basis. She is currently president of the National Polymer Clay Guild and founding member and officer of two guilds in Texas.
As an artist, sculpture has been my love and this opportunity to use polymer clay in such a way was a self-imposed challenge. The background began with a Skinner blend for the sky and then the ground. Next another blend was used for the letter "D". Molds were used to create the faces, hands and feet of the 'Mom' and 'Dad' as well as the baby, boy and girl and the corner decorations as well as the word DOLLS. Then clay clothing was added to the main figures and the entire sculpture was baked onto the "D" using Translucent Liquid Sculpey to make sure the various pieces adhered to the background.
