Materials and Tools:
- Premo – Beige #5092
- Any scrap clay or clay in your choice of color for the bottom
holder
and to cover the wooden skewer.
- Hand shaped cookie cutter
- Pigment Ink Pad-Black
- Wooden skewer
- Delta Bronze Metal Acrylic Color-Optional
Acrylic roller
- Super Slicer

- Heart rubber stamp
- TLS
Directions:
- Condition the beige clay very well. Roll out to ¼” thickness.
Using the cookie cutter
as a pattern, lightly score the pattern on the clay.
- Now make the fingers of the pattern longer using the tip of
the wooden skewer to
sketch out the pattern. The fingers need to be longer in
order for them to fold over
and look more realistic.

- Cut out the hand shape with the Super Slicer or
a very sharp craft knife.
- After cutting out the hand, smooth all edges. Turn down the two
fingers shown, making
the sign language gesture “I Love You.”

- With the flat end of the wooden skewer, texturize
the hand all over. This gives it a look
of hammered metal.

- Using the super slicer, carefully cut a slit down the center
of the first finger for the photo
to be placed into. Before baking, place a piece of paper
in the slit to prevent it from sticking together during baking.

- "Stamp heart design with rubber stamp and black ink in
the middle of the hand before baking."

- Push a wooden skewer into the bottom of the hand leaving about
4-5” of the skewer showing. Bake at
this point according to manufacturers instructions.
Cool completely.

- Mix scrap clay into a snake about 17” long and ½” thick.
Make a tight spiral from the snake. Repeat using a 15” snake, ¼” thick..
Put this spiral on top of this first. Repeat
with a third snake 12” long, ¼”.
Put this third spiral on top of the second.
You now have three spirals which form the base.

- Make a skinny snake of clay and wind around the wooden skewer
to cover it.

- Place the covered wooden skewer into the base of spirals. Squirt
some TLS around the
base of the skewer for permanent hold. Bake according the
manufacturers instructions.
Cool completely.
