A Halloween party is such fun; great games, great snacks and great party decorations. Let Sculpey add some fun to your party. The easy projects below are a great party activity. Once party goers arrive, play a warm up game – Pin the Nose on the Pumpkin, Halloween’s version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Bobbing for apples is always fun, although a little messy.
Now’s the time for your craft activity. Create one or both of the projects below. While projects are baking have some snacks and read a scary story.
Halloween snacks don’t need to be sweet, kids receive plenty of candy. Create “Spooky Dip” - Make your favorite onion dip and use red and blue food coloring to make the dip purple. Another great snack item is “Blood Dip” - red salsa for veggies or chips is a favorite with kids and adults. Dark blue corn chips or bones (jicama sticks) make this standard a little more ghoulish.
Let projects cool and they are ready for party goers to take home.
Don’t forget to take lots of pictures. You’ll want to make some Candy Corn Photo Holders and Magnets, here’s the link for the directions. http://sculpey.com/Projects/PDF/CandyCornPhotoHolder.pdf
Some Basic Information
Sculpey III should be conditioned before using. To condition, roll and squeeze each color in your hands until the clay becomes soft, pliable and even in consistency.
It¹s important to bake your projects for the right amount of time and at the right temperature. Sculpey III bakes in your home oven for 15 minutes at 275. Line your baking sheets with aluminum foil when using them to cure polymer clay projects.
Always have an adult assist in the baking process and never touch a clay project until it is completely cool. You may want to use an oven thermometer to make sure the oven temperature is accurate. Overheating polymer clay can cause it to become discolored.
Good working surfaces include a large piece of glass, wax paper or foil. It is important that you not place unbaked polymer clay on any good furniture surface. Do not use everyday cooking utensils with clay if you are going to continue using them for preparing food.
