Directions: |
| |
Condition the blue pearl clay first and roll out evenly to
about ¼” thick. Using the round plastic ring, cut out
a 1 ½ “ circle. This is the base of your medallion. |
Using the clay
gun and tip as shown, begin making long ropes from the separate Granitex
colors, red, blue and violet. |
Flatten bead to create an oval, or "lozenge" shaped bead.

|
Twist the long
ropes slightly and cut into 1” lengths to form the beads.
Pinch the ends of each bead together gently. Insert pins all the
way through the pieces. A needle tool is great for this also. Lay
beads on quilt batting and place on your baking surface.
|
| |
Place
in calibrated oven (check accuracy of temperature with an external
oven thermometer) and bake according to manufacturers recommendations.
Let completely
cool and remove pins. Separate into colors.
|
|
|
|
Roll out a thin, flat sheet of blue granitex. Make a snake
from blue pearl clay and cover the snake with the sheet of blue granitex.
Roll out a thin sheet of red granitex and cover the blue granitex
snake.
|
|
|
|
Roll out a thin sheet of orange granitex and cover the red
granitex snake. You will now have four layers.
|
|
This
makes the cane that forms the flower for the medallion. With a
very sharp blade, cut thin slices and pinch at the bottom to resemble
a petal.

|
Place
a round ball of orange granitex in the center of the medallion,
pressing lightly to flatten a little and using the end of the
stylus, texture it slightly. Place flower petals around the center
ball, make a twisted rope from a snake of the blue granitex and
the medallion is almost finished.
|
Make a
shape as shown, cutting out with the super slicer, and press onto
the medallion, front and back. This forms the hanger that the beaded
chain goes through.
|
|
Decide
how long you want your necklace to be and cut an appropriate length
of cording.
Place the medallion in the center of the cording.
Begin first with the seed beads and place as many of them as needed
to cover the cording on the inside of the medallion hanger. Work outward
from the medallion from side to side in order to get equal amounts
of each piece on each side.
