Directions
Mix ivory and the off white clay together, but not completely. Leave some coloration in the clay. Roll out to ¼” thickness. Using the flan pan as your mold, press into the clay and remove excess from around the edges. This is your clock base.

With a small brush, lightly brush on the brown chalk around the edges of the clock.

To make the flower cane that I used for the clock numbers I first used a color combination of Barbara McGuires that is on the Sculpey website. It is a very pretty green color and is as follows: 1 part Green Pearl
1 part Black = Forest Pearl

1 part Forest Pearl
2 parts Pearl = Green Seafoam Pearl

Roll a small snake of silver. Cover this snake with B. McGuire’s Green Seafoam Pearl. Now cover this snake with the blue pearl and reduce and smooth the cane to about ¼”.
Make three of these canes and put together.

Cover all three with silver clay. Press and roll, reducing and lengthening until nice and smooth. Slice into even slices.

Curl the edges of the flowers, if desired before placing on the clock. Measure and put the first flower in the center of clock. Make a hole with straw for the clock works to come through. Place flowers in the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’ clock positions.

Roll skinny snakes of #022 green and place randomly on the clock. Make leaves and place as shown. Use the needle tool to make veining in the leaves. For the leaves, roll a ball of clay and flatten, shape into a leaf by pointing one end. I like to add some white or off white clay to my green when I make leaves for interest.

Begin molding the “critters”. The colors are your choice. For the inchworm I used #323 emerald green so he would show up nicely. For the butterfly, I mixed colors and the lady bug is the standard black and red. Follow the picture of the package for color choices.

Add seed beads to the critters for their eyes. On the butterfly I also added seed beads to her wings. A toothpick helps with this. Add critters to the clock. I also added slices of the small cane around the edges of the clock in order to tie it all together and added a seed bead in the center of each slice. Now bake the entire piece according to manufacturer’s instructions.

After completely cooled, add clock works. Follow instructions on package. The last Walnut Hollow package that I bought included a self hanger built into the clockworks on the back. You may either hang your clock using this or place in an easel. Look on the package for instructions.

Finished clock: You may desire a finish on your clock. This is a personal choice. Sculpey glaze is a great choice.
