Materials Needed:

- TWO – 2 oz blocks of Premo! Sculpey Clay (I used Colbalt Blue)
- Translucent Liquid Sculpey
- Clay sealer
- Pearl Ex Powders of choice
- Clay dedicated Pasta Machine or Acrylic Brayer for conditioning
the clay
- Rubber stamp set of choice (Wonderful Wings, Botanicals
stamp sets used - Artwork © 1990-2004 Stampin’ Up! ®)
- 3 - CD-ROMs (these can be the free ones you get in
mail)
- Pair of old scissors to cut CD’s
- Heat gun or warm water
- 2 ft or more of fishing line
- Crimp beads
- Glass Beads
- Small drill (Dremel)
1) To avoid cracking
CD when cutting - warm a CD-ROM by soaking in warm water or heating
with heat gun – cut while warm into
whatever shapes you wish with scissors. May need 2 or more CD’s
to create enough cut shapes – best look achieved if have 4
or more cut pieces when done.
 2) If wish, Stamp
reflective side of full CD and all cut pieces with Staz On ink
(this ink will fade in sun if not sealed in last
step).
3) Apply a very
thin layer of Liquid Sculpey to label sides of CD-ROMs with brush
or finger – just
enough to create glue like feel (too much and clay will slide)
Set aside.
4) Condition one 2oz block of Premo Clay – remove a nickel
size ball and finish with a clay sheet large enough to cover “label” side
of full CD (I use setting #6 on my pasta machine).
5) Roughly flatten
clay ball by hand and place on center hole of CD ROM on reflective
side
then place clay sheet over “label” side.
Press to remove air and form around edges, removing extra from around
edge. The nickel size ball and flat piece will come together in center
and will be pressed together when stamped.
6)
Using extra clay from above and conditioning more clay if needed – cover
the “label” side of each cut piece as below.

7)
Stamp clay as desired. May need to re-trim and clean up edges once
you’ve completed stamping. Remember to carefully stamp
the small irregular shape that now exists on reflective side
as well – best
done by stamping center of front last with CD resting on another
stamp rubber side up (so stamping both sides at once).

8) Dust images with Pearl Ex colors of choice.
 9) Bake according to clay directions (very important not to use
temp higher then 275 degrees F as CD ROM will melt and clay fumes
are toxic).
10) Remove and
allow to cool.
11) Carefully
drill 1 hole at top center of full CD for hanging loop, and 3 or
more holes
along bottom depending on number of “drops” you
want. Drill hole in top of each cut CD piece (depending on layout
if using more than one piece per strand have to drill hole at bottom
of cut piece as well to attach next).
12) Layout on
table the pieces and beads as you want them to look. Using fishing
line and
crimp beads – attach each cut CD piece
to larger one. Add beads or whatever you wish to line as you go for
added decoration.
 13) Seal with
clay sealer and allow to dry. (I use clear spray on reflective
side and Clay
Sealer or Future Floor Wax on clay side – obviously
waiting once one is dry before doing other).
14) Hang away
from full sun but where can pick up light – color
may fade, although I have not yet had this occur. Bright lights at
work? Hang in a corner to decorate office.
