Jenessa
Largent
Sculpey
is proud to sponsor Jenessa Largent, a cool
kid from Minnesota with her heart in the right
place (on her wrist!) Jenessa, 12, sent her
Uncle Mike, who is serving in the military
in Iraq, a "friendship" bracelet
she made out of hemp and red, white and blue
hearts she made out of Sculpey Clay. She made
one for herself, too, and told her uncle neither
of them should take their bracelets off until
he returned home safe and sound. Soon, the
other soldiers in her uncle's unit were noticing
the heartfelt bracelet and wishing for one
to tie them to their little loved ones back
home. When her uncle mentioned this to Jenessa
in an e-mail from Iraq, the industrious kid
began making dozens, then hundreds of bracelets,
for free, to send to the soldiers and their
kids back home. She created a website to make
it easy for service people and their families
to place orders from wherever they were.
Word
began spreading, and when her orders reached
more than 10,000, the Minneapolis craft stores
she bought her Sculpey from had run out of
red, white and blue clay. In desperation, her
mom called Sculpey headquarters to see about
buying clay direct from our Elk Grove Village
home office. We decided if this girl could
be so big-hearted to come up with such a loving
concept and give of herself to make and ship
them for free, then we wanted to help her out
by supplying her all the Sculpey she needs
for free. She just completed an order for 20,000
bracelets and already has an order for 20,000
more! We are proud to support this young American
patriot, and tickled pink (make that red, white
and blue) that her creation featuring our clay
has recently been honored with placement into
the Smithsonian Institution. She was also recently
honored at the Pentagon and she visited wounded
servicemen at a military hospital near Washington
D.C. CNN, Jay Leno, and most recently CBS This
Morning's American Hero segment have all recognized
Jenessa's heartwarming contribution. Even the
White House was so impressed with her, she
was invited to visit this summer.

order a bracelet. We were impressed and are
sure you will be too! Go Jenessa, we're behind
you!
